DISCOVER

Dates:   March 6 - April 3
Times:   Ongoing
Ends On:   Apr 3

In 2014, Cincinnati artist Susan Byrnes received one of five fellowships granted by the City’s Cincinnati Art Ambassador Fellowships Program to fund the creation of artwork for an exhibition project titled DISCOVER.

The completed project will be premiered on Friday, March 6th, in C-LINK Gallery at Brazee Street Studios in Oakley. The work will remain on exhibit through April 3rd. The opening will include a talk by the artist. The opening reception, talk, and exhibition are free and open to the public.

DISCOVER is an art exhibition that combines glass, sound, and science. Inspired by research images, publication texts, and interviews with molecular biologists from Cincinnati Children’s Medical Center, DISCOVER explores the process and wonder of scientific discovery through a creative lens. The exhibition will include sound compositions that incorporate comments from scientists in response to questions such as, “is the moment of discovery a moment of epiphany?”, “how does risk and failure impact how you pursue new ideas?”, and “do you consider what you do to be creative?”. Blown and cast glass sculptures inspired by tools used in the science lab create a visual environment for the sound. A video installation will project larger than life images derived from research images made on a confocal microscope.
